There are a number of ways businesses in the modern world can cut down on their energy consumption, boosting their eco-friendly profile in the meantime.
Whether it is the installation of sustainable power production units such as solar panels or simply by cutting down on usage through more efficient ways of working, options are always open to those who want to do something about their environmental footprint.
Sarah McAllister, director of FengShuiAgency.com, has spoken on the matter and noted that there are links between the need to go green and the very best design trends and styles.
For instance, one of her recommendations is to target lighting as an area in which to save energy, which could mean investing in low voltage downlights and other such solutions.
"Keep the reception light and bright, even at night - use low-energy bulbs to be more eco-friendly. This maintains an energetic presence at the business," Ms McAllister explained.
Of course, there is also the option of taking energy directly from the panels on your building and harnessing it to fuel solar lights, which could be considered one of the greenest options of all.
But it is not only efficient and attractive lighting that is the key to making a workplace look right. Firms should also aim to boost the colour schemes employed on walls and other surfaces.
Karen Haller, an interior designer and colour expert, subscribed to this view recently when she said it is important to find shades that harmonise with each other.
Ms McAllister seemingly agreed with the assessment, as she said the colour of walls and flooring can have a huge impact on the energy and vibrancy of a building.
Nobody wants to invest in the most beautiful colours on the market only to find their lighting is sadly inadequate when it comes to illuminating them, so finding a balance between the two features is a wise step.
